Friends & Family Concert 2018
The year seems to have gone very quickly and this concert, which is a milestone in our annual programme, marks the end of another happy year for the choir. We performed some quite challenging pieces, a very satisfying sing for the choir, to an appreciative audience. You can view some pics of the concert in our photo gallery here. with special thanks to Fred Johnson for the photographs.
Friends & Family Concert 2017
Our Summer Concert is traditionally for Friends and Family but it always has a special purpose, to raise funds for our adopted charity, this year The Eastleigh Basics Bank for which we were pleased to raise £376. This will contribute towards the rent of storage premises and shop. We would like to thank all our supporters and contributors who made this possible and who help to keep Gospel Phonics thriving. You can see some more pictures of the concert here.
Eastleigh Basics Bank - Our Charity For 2017
We are delighted to announce that Gospel Phonics will be supporting Eastleigh Basics Bank in our fundraising activities this year. Eastleigh Basics Bank was set-up by the churches of Eastleigh to support those who are experiencing financial difficulty and need short term support through the provision of food. You can read about their aims, activities and needs on their website here.
We've been working up our Christmas Concert which will be given by invitation for charities and our regular followers in the local Eastleigh area. This is one of the pieces in our programme - sung by GOSPELkollektiv Berlin in the video - it's a great Gospel ballad by Jeff Guillen and wonderful to sing.
New Piece - This Morning When I Rose
What a great way to start the day! Well we don't give it quite the same treatment as the Gospel Legends in their video here - we have our own arrangement crafted by Gospel Phonics resident composer, the hugely talented and versatile Benedict Nichols. You can see why it's such a great sing. Not sure if we'll be getting out our suits though.
A New Term
We get together again on 8 September to rehearse and expand our repertoire. It's always interesting to set to work on new music and work up our programme for concerts in support of local charities. September is a good time for anyone who has been away from singing for a while or who would like to give it a try for the first time to try out a choir - if this is you then why not give us a try. Don't forget we have a robust and very well behaved bass section so male voices are as equally welcome in Gospel Phonics. For information on joining the choir please take a look at the Join Us page.
Friends and Family Concert 2015
We have just performed our annual Friends and Family Concert to a very lively audience, which always brings out the best in performance. We had a great programme of music which reflected the variety of musical styles we enjoy. Our concerts are aimed at charitable fundraising and our chosen charity for this show was the Eastleigh branch of Inskip, a League of Friendship for the disabled.
You can find out more about the charity here.
This was our last big effort before the summer break but we look forward to getting back together in September.
